CANCER AWARENESS EVENT & CULTURAL PROGRAM

WeForAll(NGO) and HCGEKO Cancer Centre jointly arranged for an awareness campaign against cancer on 18th February 2024 with assistance from Charnock Hospital, State Bank of India, Mindex, GLS Reality and Club de Golf.
The event started with a cycle rally in which nearly 100 cyclists from CNG(Cycle Network Grow) took part. This 16-kilometre ride started from Clock Tower Newtown to spread the message of fighting, winning and inspiring to prevent cancer. The flag-off ceremony was initiated by Mr. Aban Saha- a well-known businessman, social worker and cancer survivor himself.
The second half of the programme took place in Nazrultirtha’s open arena. There was an interactive session with the cancer survivors and their caregivers. Oncologists spoke about the early symptoms and prevention of cancer. Mr. Pijush Ranjan Ghosh – a renowned motivational speaker spoke about the importance of staying strong in the difficult situation. Ex ex-managing director of HIDCO Mr. Debashis Sen addressed the audience with his short but memorable speech. Mr. Amarjeet Singh, CEO -of HCG EKO Cancer Hospital also spoke about the cancer treatment in his hospital. Ms. Sweta Sharma, Director, Charnock Hospital spoke about the facilities of their hospital. Many other elected officials of Newtown Panchayat along with some eminent people’s representatives graced the event with their speeches.
A medical team from HCG EKO Cancer Research Centre conducted a health check-up camp. Near about 60 people took facility from the camp. Hundreds of guests got the privilege card from this hospital.
The cultural event was embedded with street theatre ( projecting the misconception about cancer) , karate shows of self-defence, Odissi dance, songs and some band music.
Hundreds of people gathered to witness the whole event and cheered the survivors while they were being felicitated. The entire program has been a success on its own.
